3. USER'S MANUAL

Your watch is repairable, but the watch cover can be opened and any repair works should be carried out only by specialist-watchmakers in watch shops.

The watch is a complex technical device, which requires careful handling. Your watch will work trouble-free and keep high accuracy if you do the following:

  • wind the watch regularly once a day (it is better to do it in the morning until it is fully wound (excepting watches with automatic winding);
  • wear the watch with automatic winding on your wrist not less than 10 hours a day;
  • protect the watch from falling and sharp shocks;
  • avoid exposing the watch to strong magnetic fields and chemical agents;
  • clean, lubricate and adjust as well as to check water impermeability of "water-resistant" watch not less than once every two years after warranty is expired.

It is not recommended:

  • to open the case or remove its back cover: in doing this, you are unable to protect your watch from unqualified service and may introduce dirt and dust into the watch movement;
  • to expose the watch to temperature extremes as this causes "weeping" (i.e., fogging) of the crystal.

Your watch has a resistance to influence of magnetic fields with intensity less than 4800 A/M

Average watch service life is 10 years in case of correct use.

That means on average you only need to service the watch once in 10 years. However, it's recommended to get it checked every 4-5 years just to make sure it's keeping good time and its water resistance claim is still valid.

Accuracy of mechanical watches

Your mechanical watch has many advantages: it does not need a battery which pollutes the environment; it is very durable; and if well-maintained, can be passed on from generation to generation. The watch can be repaired even after decades of its heavy use.

Mean daily rate at temperature +20 to +50 degree Celsius ranges from -20 to +60 s/day depending on the movement type. More accurate parameters of mean daily rate are provided in technical specifications for each watch movement. If daily rate's deviation is beyond the stated range, you can apply to the POLJOT service center, where your watch will be adjusted free of charge during the warranty period.

Watches with mechanical (manual) winding

Watches of the given type should be wound daily. It is better to wind it in the morning. Rotate the watch crown clockwise until it meets strong resistance. Any manually wound watches POLJOT will work approximately from 35 up to 42 hours after full winding.

Automatic movement of your watch can be seen in watches with special transparent back cover, which is certainly an adornment.

Hands setting

In order to set the hands, the crown should be pulled out from the case and then rotated clockwise to set the time.

Watches with automatic winding up

Mechanical watches with automatic winding up of the mainspring do not require manual winding. Spontaneous movements of your hand make the rotor (oscillating weight) turn and thus wind the mainspring of the watch. Daily routine is enough for automatic winding up of the watch and it will continue running even if it is removed for the night. However, if the watch is not worn for about 38 hours, it will stop. In order to make the watch run again, rotate and set the time and the date.

Moreover, you can see an autorotating oscillating weight in automatic watches with glass back cover.

Time-reading in the dark

Time can be easily read even in complete darkness if marks denoting figures in the watch dial, as well as hour and minute hands are covered with fluorescent colors.

We use special luminous colours, "Super Luminova" and "Luminova", which are absolutely harmless for your health. These two types differ in fluorescence duration in the dark.

4. WATER RESISTANCE

Level of water resistance and possibilities to use the watch correspond with the marking on the watch back cover.

  • Watches without any marking on the back cover (common design) should be protected from water drops.
  • Watches marked "Water resistant" are able to take the accompanied water sprays without splashes caused by the washing of your hands and face accompanied.
  • Watches marked "Water resistant 3 ATM" make possible your walking in the rain and washing under a faucet, when water is splashed up under small pressure.
  • Watches marked "Water resistant 5 ATM" can be worn while you water your garden and wash your car with a hose.
  • Watches marked "Water resistant 10 ATM" allow you to swim and dive (but not from a tower) and to swim under water without a scuba.

As a rule, watches that are "Water resistant" beyond 5 ATM are equipped with screwed-in crowns. To set the time, date or change alarm or calendar indication, the crown has to be unlocked by turning it anti-clockwise first.

Do not manipulate the watch crown under water.

Recommendation: check water impermeability of your watch once every two years at the POLJOT service center.

5. CASE MATERIAL

Usage of different materials for watch cases allows meeting diverse needs of our customers. Case material is denoted by the fourth figure in the number of the watch model as detailed below:
7 - titanium;
1 - stainless polished steel;
3 - satin polished steel.

Plating:
6 - gold plating;
9 - plating with rose gold;
1 - chrome plating;
1 - PNP - palladium and nickel plating.

6. CRYSTAL

Out of a wide variety of world-suggested materials, we deliberately chose sapphire and mineral crystal.

Sapphire crystal protects from scratches (9 degree of hardness) and remains clear and undistorted for years of heavy continuous usage. It is recommended for sport activities due to exceptional resistance and hardness of the crystal. However, it can be broken if strongly struck. Watches from POLJOT equipped with sapphire crystal have corresponding markings on the back watch cover.

Mineral crystal also remains clear and undistorted for a long time and it is also shock-resistant; however, it is less scratch-resistant compared to sapphire crystal.

7. BANDS AND BRACELETS

We use leather, silk and synthetic bands as well as titanium and steel bracelets with our watches.

Leather band

  • Genuine leather bands of POLJOT watches have corresponding markings on the clasp and reverse side of the bands.
  • POLJOT employs a wide selection of bands made of calf leather (with embossing imitating skin of different animals), ostrich leather as well as lizard and crocodile leather.
  • Genuine crocodile and lizard leather bands are not produced from endangered reptile species.
  • Leather usually comes from farms of developing countries.
  • Leather bands are not recommended for use by people with excessive sweating as well as by people who stay in areas with excessive air moisture for a long time.

Silk bands

Silk bands used in POLJOT watches are recommended for use by people with sensitive skin.

Steel bracelets

  • POLJOT employs steel bracelets produced only out of first-rank stainless steel.
  • They are very strong, lasting and meet all strict dermatological requirements according nickel allergy prevention.
  • Two types of bracelets are produced: polished and glazed.
  • The consumer can adjust width of the bracelet himself by shifting a punch-type pin.
  • Be careful when adjusting the width of the bracelet as the pin can suddenly spring out.
  • Several bracelet links can added or removed if needed. This procedure should be carried out in a specialized jewellery or watch shop.

Titanium bracelet

Light, strong, fashionable and beautiful bracelets made of titanium with polished or gold-plated insertions will become a perfect match to your watch. Besides, we comply with all requirements ensuring safety for the wearer of the watch.

MOVEMENT DESCRIPTION
POLJOT watches are assembled on the base of movements of the first accuracy class in contrast to all the other national manufacturers, that produce watches of the second accuracy class and lower. This means that the mean daily rate at temperatures ranging from 20 to 50 degree Celsius, if the watch is used correctly, ranges from -20 to +60 seconds a day, whereas readings of the second hand are calibrated with ¼ second.
